For fans of Wexford boxer Dean Walsh, there’s plenty to look forward to…
Professional Wexford boxer, Dean Walsh, has not one – but two – professional boxing bouts to look forward to.
Firstly, he has been pencilled in to take part on the Mick Conlan undercard, which will take place in Dublin, on Friday, September 5th. Mick “Irish Mick” Conlan is scheduled to fight Jack Bateson on the night. This highly anticipated bout will take place at Dublin’s 3Arena and is for the vacant WBC International Featherweight title.
Meanwhile, Wexford’s Dean Walsh will be squaring off against Jamil “Jam Jam” Elo from Finland in a professional bout at 154 lbs (super-welterweight/light middleweight)
One month later, Walsh will be fighting on a JB Promotions card entitled ‘A New Dawn’ in the National Stadium. Wexford’s Walsh will be coming up against the reigning Celtic light-middleweight champion and Celtic middleweight champion, Daniel O’Sullivan.
The fight against O’Sullivan will be a huge fight for Walsh. It is scheduled for a 10-rounder in O’Sullivan’ hometown of Dublin, but the National Stadium is a place where Walsh has got a lot of success from.
Both O’Sullivan and Walsh will bring huge crowds to the fight. A win would propel their careers to the point that their next fight could be a shot at an Irish title. Boxers typically aim to win the Celtic title – viewed as a stepping stone before pursuing the Irish title, which is a more prestigious national championship, according to the Boxing Union of Ireland.
The JB Promotions card is already a stacked one with 6 domestic fights taking place. It would not be surprising either to see other Wexford boxers like David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy and Dean Gonzalez Furlong feature on this card too.
