Wexford town business forced to close down

A Wexford town business has been forced to close down…

Escape Wexford, located on Peter Street in Wexford town, has closed their doors for the final time.

Escape Wexford delivered thrilling, immersive free-roam VR escape adventures on Peter Street—perfect for friends, families, couples, or team-building fun.

Escape Wexford, which was marketed as Wexford’s first-ever VR arcade was opened in October 2024 by Karl McGlone along with his brother Dave McGlone.

However, after just one year in business, Escape Wexford were foced to release a statement recently announcing their closure which also came as a ‘shock’ to the owners.

On their website, the owners also stated that they are closing “due to circumstances out of control”.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who stepped into a VR Escape Room, battled it out in our VR Arena, had a team building event or a birthday party here. We hope we brought a little extra fun to Wexford Town — and who knows… maybe this isn’t game over just yet. The news of our closure came as a shock even to us, but if we can find another space with the right floor size, we might just be back,” owners Karl and Dave said.

Escape Wexford closed their doors on August 31st 2025. On their final opening day, they were fully-booked – and hinted of an another re-opening should the opportunity of securing a new property arise in the near future.
