A popular coastal pub in north Wexford has been crowned Gastro Pub of the Year 2025 by the prestigious Ireland Guide, also known as the Georgina Campbell Awards…
Georgina Campbell founded the guide, and for many years the awards were branded directly with her name.
The Strand Cahore, which has welcomed visitors overlooking the sea since 1893, proudly announced the news this week, celebrating the achievement with their community.
“Today we proudly hung our Gastropub of the Year 2025 award from Ireland Guide at The Strand Cahore overlooking the sea since 1893,” owners Aileen and Patrick said.
“It’s a reminder of generations who have gathered here, and the spirit of hospitality that runs through every pint poured and every plate served.”

The owners paid special tribute to Bernie, who they credited as being central to the pub’s success. “A heartfelt congratulations to Bernie, whose dedication and leadership made this possible,” they added.
Thanks were also extended to the pub’s staff, suppliers and loyal customers, with The Strand noting:
“A huge thank you to our incredible suppliers, hardworking staff, and loyal guests, without you, none of this would be possible…. To our wonderful community, guests, and supporters – thank you for cheering us on and being part of this journey. This award is as much yours as it is ours.”

Looking ahead, the team says this accolade is another chapter in the long story of The Strand:
“Here’s to the next chapter in The Strand’s story… and to many more years by the sea.”
