Wexford Senior hurler ruled out of panel for the forseeable future

The Wexford Senior hurlers will return to action this weekend…

Wexford will take on Antrim (at home) in Wexford Park in the first round of the Allianz Hurling League, where they’ll be competing in Division 1B with their eyes firmly set on gaining promotion to the top-tier again.

Wexford will be without a number of key hurlers from last year’s campaign.

Both Charlie McGuckin and Rory O’Connor have ruled themselves out of the panel to go travelling, while St Annes’ clubman, Eoin Ryan, will not be joining the panel either.

Another player that Keith Rossiter will be without is full-forward Conor McDonald, who has not rejoined the Wexford Senior hurling panel for the new 2026 season.

It was reported in this week’s Irish Independent that McDonald will be out of the panel for the “forseeable future.”

The Naomh Eanna clubman made his debut for Wexford in 2013 at just 17 years of age when he came on off the bench against Clare in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

The Gorey man poses a significant threat in the inside forward line, with his catching and scoring ability being his two best traits.

McDonald’s clubmate, Cathal Dunbar, is another member not to rejoin the panel and it is unsure whether either will join at a later date.
