In an industry crowded with competition, building a successful business from the ground up is no small task. For Jade Dunphy, however, perseverance and passion turned that challenge into an award-winning reality…
Dunphy founded Wipe Your Paws Grooming in 2022, at a time when many small businesses were still feeling the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic. With limited resources and a highly competitive market, funding the venture was one of the biggest hurdles:
“I worked three jobs to fund setting up my own business,” she said.
What began as a determined effort soon evolved into a thriving local business. Supported by the New Ross community and driven by Dunphy’s dedication, Wipe Your Paws Grooming quickly developed a loyal client base.
Just a few years on, the business has gained recognition well beyond its local roots. Dunphy has since been awarded Ireland’s Best Individual Groomer and Ireland’s Creative Groomer of the Year, honours she describes as something she “could have only ever dreamed of.” The accolades reflect not only technical skill, but a deep commitment to her craft.

While long hours and financial investment often define success in business, Dunphy proves that passion is the most important ingredient. A lifelong love of animals guided her career choice, and that connection remains at the heart of her work today.
“I get to know and connect with each of my clients and have built many friendships,” she said.
That personal approach has helped create an environment where both pets and owners feel comfortable, encouraging repeat visits and long-term trust. Adding to the uniqueness of the business is Dunphy’s willingness to groom both dogs and cats, a service not commonly offered.
She says the variety keeps each day interesting:
“One day it could be three huskies and a German shepherd, with hair floating around like a snow globe. The next day could be cats and little fluffy puppies.”
Having established herself within the industry, Dunphy is now also focused on supporting others. She works with fellow groomers across Wexford, helping them develop their skills and pursue their own ambitions within the profession. It is a full-circle moment for a business owner who once relied heavily on community support herself.
From long days and financial uncertainty to national recognition and industry leadership, Dunphy’s journey highlights the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, and proves that with resilience and passion, even the most competitive markets can be navigated successfully.
