Wexford footballers set up promotion showdown in last round with Westmeath

Few would have expected Wexford to do this well…

Just promoted from Division 4 last season, the Wexford Senior Footballers have an eye on promotion to Division 2 one season later.

Wexford’s most recent away win against Clare means that they have set up a final round promotion showdown against Westmeath.

At the start of the Allianz League campaign, the Wexford Senior Footballers were tipped to go straight back down — but against the odds, promotion is now within their graps. It’s a crucial decider for both teams and it’s a winner-takes-all match in relation to promotion and getting to an Allianz League final.

Even more excellent news is the fact that Wexford’s final round clash — and the promotion decider — will take place in Wexford Park.

It has also since been confirmed that Irish television broadcaster, TG4, will be streaming the game live. It will be streamed live on the TG4 app at 2pm.

It’s one of the biggest days for Wexford football in quite some time and a large crowd is expected to turn up to cheer on John Hegarty’s Senior football side.
