A new Wexford rock band has released their debut single…
Wexford’s rock scene is heating up with the arrival of Scalder, a fresh hard rock band hailing from Enniscorthy. The group has just released their debut single Mass Hysteria, which will drop on all major streaming platforms on May 17th, 2026.
Formed from the ashes of local favourites Recoil, Scalder reunited to raise over €2,000 for the Hope Centre in Wexford through a successful Shave or Dye gig. The band’s name itself is a nod to local slang — “Scalder” referring to someone from Enniscorthy.
The new single is a high-energy track packed with heavy guitar riffs and growling vocals. It delivers a strong sense of isolation through story-driven lyrics about loneliness in a forgotten town. Early feedback has been strong, with the song described as “Scalder’s catchy new debut hard rock single with heavy riffs and vocals that growl.”
The four-piece consists of:
- Evan Delaney – Lead Guitar & Lead Vocals
- Connor Lee Carr – Bass Guitar
- Seán Healy – Rhythm Guitar
- Andrew Kehoe – Drums
Scalder are an Irish punk-inspired hard rock band with a unique sound rooted firmly in County Wexford.
As of May 23rd, the band will be competing in the finals of the Battle of the Bands, hosted by Outrage Entertainment, with a chance to secure a performance slot at the ArtLot stage at Electric Picnic.
They are also busy recording their debut album, which is expected in the coming months, and have a busy schedule of live shows
