New gym set to open in Enniscorthy next month

A new gym is set to open its doors in Enniscorthy this summer, bringing fresh energy to the town’s growing health and fitness community…

Fitness 1st, which already operates a successful and highly regarded gym in Gorey, is expanding into Enniscorthy with a brand-new facility on the Old Dublin Road.

The expansion marks a significant move for the Wexford-based fitness brand, whose Gorey location has built a strong reputation in recent years for its modern facilities, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to helping people of all fitness levels achieve their goals.

The owners of the gym have said that it will officially open on 20th June 2026, with new equipment already standing at the premises ahead of launch.

Locals in Enniscorthy have already noticed activity at the new site, with deliveries of state-of-the-art gym equipment signalling that preparations are well underway.

The arrival of Fitness 1st is expected to be welcomed by many in the area, particularly following the recent closure of one of Enniscorthy’s most popular gyms, Lifestyle Fitness, just two months ago.

The loss left a noticeable gap in the local fitness scene, and the new facility could help fill that void while also offering residents another option to stay active, improve their health, and connect with others in the community.

Regular exercise has long been linked with improved physical and mental wellbeing, and modern gyms increasingly serve as important social hubs as well as fitness centres. From strength training and weight loss to rehabilitation and overall wellness, gyms play an important role in encouraging healthier lifestyles and building stronger communities.

Fitness 1st’s expansion into Enniscorthy also reflects the growing demand for accessible, high-quality fitness facilities across County Wexford. Their Gorey gym has earned praise for its positive environment and wide-ranging equipment, attracting members from across North Wexford and beyond.

With the countdown now underway to the June opening, anticipation is beginning to build locally as Enniscorthy prepares to welcome one of the county’s newest fitness facilities.
