Wexford Park to host All-Ireland championship clash this weekend

There’s a huge occasion in store at Wexford Park this weekend as Wexford continue their Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship campaign in Round Two of the competition…

With championship season now in full swing, supporters are being encouraged to come out in force and get behind the Model County in what promises to be a crucial encounter against Clare this weekend.

While the match will be streamed live on the Official Camogie YouTube channel, nothing compares to the atmosphere of a championship day in Wexford Park.

A strong home crowd could make all the difference as Wexford look to build momentum and secure an important result in front of their supporters.

The match takes place on Saturday 30 May, at 3:30pm.

The Wexford Senior Camogie team, who are the current Leinster Champions, lost out to Offaly in the first round of the All-Ireland Camogie championship last weekend. Wexford were unfortunate not to win that opening game, with Offaly scoring a late goal in the dying seconds to claim the victory.

However, not all is lost – and their season is far from over as they are placed into a round-robin series with five other teams.

The other teams Wexford will face are: Kilkenny, Dublin, and Limerick. Each team plays every other team once before any knockout qualification is decided. The highest-ranked teams advance directly to the All-Ireland semi-finals, while others compete in quarter-finals for a place in the last four. From there, it’s straight knockout camogie, culminating in the All-Ireland Final at Croke Park later in the summer.

Wexford last won the All-Ireland Senior Camogie championship in 2012, claiming a historic three-in-a-row at the time.
