Bridge linking Wexford and Kilkenny to close for two months

A bridge linking Wexford and Kilkenny will close for two months…

Wexford County Council will close Ferrymount Ragget Bridge, located in New Ross County Wexford. It will be closed under Section 75 of the Roads Act (1993).

No vehicles will be able to cross the bridge from 24 June to 28 August 2026.

The bridge will be closed to undergo extensive repair works.

There were local objections regarding the road closure in Kilkenny. However, increased traffic and increased vehicular size, especially over the last 15 years, has led to its deterioation.

“The road closure now advertised is to ensure that works are done during maximum daylight hours, during school holiday period for schools to minimise disruption and maximise working hours on the project,” Kilkenny County Council said.

Alternative routes, which will be signposted, will be available for vehicles, going from the Ferrymount Bridge to Graiguenamanagh via the R714-3, R729, and R703.
