Former North End goalkeeper joins Gorey Rangers

A now former North End football player has joined Gorey Rangers…

Both North End and Gorey Rangers have been major rivals over the last number of seasons in particular, with both teams regularly contesting for the Wexford Football League and the Wexford Cup serving up some cracking games between two top sides along the way.

It has since been announced that former North End United goalkeeper, Jason McGuire, has joined rival Wexford football side, Gorey Rangers AFC.

“Gorey Rangers AFC are delighted to welcome Jason McGuire to the club. Jason joins us directly from North End United and comes to us in advance of the new season ahead.

Jason arrives with an outstanding pedigree and a wealth of experience at the highest level of junior football. He has established himself as one of the best and most respected goalkeepers in Junior Football. He has won several Wexford Leagues, Wexford Cups and a Leinster Junior Cup. He has won Two Pat Whitty Leinster Titles and 1 Oscar Traynor All Ireland Title with the Wexford Football League County Team. His leadership, professionalism and winning mentality will be a huge asset to our dressing room, as we look to build on the success of last season.

Jason’s arrival is about much more than what he will bring on the pitch. Through his highly regarded goalkeeping camps and coaching, he will help to develop countless young goalkeepers with Gorey Rangers and it will be a massive boost to the next generation of keepers coming through our academy, underage an youth’s set ups.

Everyone at Gorey Rangers extends Jason a very warm welcome to Altura Credit Union Park Ramstown. We wish him every success in the red and black and look forward to seeing him between the posts this season,” Gorey Rangers announced.

The announcement of Jason McGuire to Gorey Rangers came as a little bit of a shock to those within Wexford footballl circles.

McGuire also owns a Goalkeeping coaching business and he’s considered one of the top Goalkeepers not just in Wexford, but across the Ireland Junior League. North End’s loss is certainly Gorey Rangers’ gain with this signing ahead of the new season.

Gorey Rangers also announced the signings of Ben Nugent from Bunclody and the return of centre-back, Dylan Fleming, ahead of the new season.
