Wexford GAA appoint new Senior hurling manager

Wexford GAA have confirmed the appointment of their new Senior hurling manager…

Following the departure of Keith Rossiter, Wexford were on the look out to find their next Senior hurling manager. Wexford GAA have since confimed their next managerial appointment with Waterford man Derek McGrath handed a three year contract.

“On behalf of Wexford GAA, I am delighted to welcome Derek McGrath as our new Senior Hurling manager. Derek has consistently demonstrated throughout his career that he is an outstanding coach and leader, with an exceptional knowledge of the game and a proven ability to develop players and teams.”

“We are excited to begin this new chapter under his leadership and I know that everyone involved in Wexford GAA will offer Derek and his management team their full support in the years ahead,’ Wexford chairman John Kenny said.

Wexford fans will be hoping that their new manager will be able to persuade some key players to return to the set-up, including Rory O’Connor, Conor McDonald, Charlie McGuckin, Eoin Ryan, and Cathal Dunbar.

Fans will also be hoping that the new manager adds a new lease of life into the team.

Despite it being admittedly a transitionary period for Wexford hurling, promotion to Divison 1 and a good run at the Leinster Championship, or qualification from it, are realistic aims for the incoming Wexford manager.

The Wexford Senior Hurling Club championships returned on Friday, 26 June.
