There’s plenty of racing to get stuck into at Wexford this evening, with an eight-race summer jumping card, consisting of two maiden hurdles, five handicap hurdles and a bumper.

We begin with a colts and geldings’ maiden hurdle run over an extended two miles (16.00). There isn’t much in the way of inspiring form here, most of the runners soundly beaten in their performances so far. Penny Express and Game Point might be the best of them here, having been closer than most of the rest, but the lesser exposed Highland Realm may improve for Willie Mullins too.
A two and a half mile mares’ maiden hurdle is next (16.35). Red Sea Girl and Are You Around bring some promising form, while Lilannbee is entitled to do well here, having been tried in pattern bumpers. Thesilverbridle is a point-to-point winner with a seven-pound claimer taking the ride and could get involved at an each-way price.
Race three is a two and a half mile Ladies’ handicap hurdle (17.10). John Queally’s Costanuci could be down to a winnable mark now, while Je Suis is better than her latest run at Sligo and may prove to be well treated. The same can be said for Ladium, who ought to have an each-way chance.
For race four, we have the first division of a three-mile handicap hurdle (17.45). Jury Foreman ran well enough here last time and may benefit from the step up in trip. He has first-time blinkers on to help too. Set The Tone was second of 18 last time over a slightly shorter trip and should be able to go well again today. Gerrys Wish is a fairly reliable sort who makes appeal in first-time headgear for Gordon Elliott.
In the second division (18.20), Clever Court is interesting after a win last time, but might find this new mark too stiff. Phildante is given seven pounds by her rider and should be competitive at this mark, while Moonlight Paradise could be worth considering also with first-time cheekpieces on.
Following is the first division an extended two-mile handicap hurdle (18.55). Hatfield Hammer is a course and distance winner who ran well at this mark last time, so should factor with Alan O’Sullivan in the saddle again. Esticky End might also be able to outrun his odds, having gone well here last time. Cinnabar Moth is another with a nice each-way chance on a handy mark.
In the second division (19.30), Thomas Hughes’ Let It Settle may have found a better strain of form and could be worth considering, while Light Her Up may benefit from first-time blinkers today. Syosset is hard to ignore after placing last time and may come on for the run.
Racing concludes with a bumper (20.05). There are six newcomers here, so plenty of unknown quantities, but the best existing form comes from Willie Mullins’ Cotswold Blue, who has been second in two bumper starts so far. In this context, one of the newcomers would have to be good enough to beat her as the others with previous form have shown little in comparison.
