A young Wexford podcaster is hoping to introduce more listeners to what he describes as the standout episode of his growing podcast series…
Rory Corrigan, now 20, began producing Rory’s Post Office when he was just 17.
Since then, he has interviewed a wide range of fascinating guests, with episodes featuring inventors, former drug dealers, gun shop owners, voice actors and comedians.
Speaking to Wexford Weekly, Rory said one episode in particular stands above the rest.
“Uncle Pat Tells Stories is about a genius inventor and golf course owner,” he explained. “The podcast details Pat’s struggles with alcoholism and his journey building a golf course and two inventions – the chimney filter and the Christmas tree stand,” he told Wexford Weekly.
Although the episode was originally created in December 2023, Rory recently reorganised the podcast so that it appears first for new listeners.
“I wanted to highlight this episode in particular because it’s the best episode,” he said. “People say that this episode is like watching a long, brilliant movie.”
Alongside podcasting, Rory is also presenting a weekly radio programme on New People’s Movement Radio, which airs every Wednesday at 12 noon. The New People’s Movement Radio is an independent Wexford-based online station broadcasting diverse talk programmes, interviews and discussions.
Looking ahead, Rory plans to return his focus to podcasting once he has expanded the reach of his existing catalogue.
“My future plans for the podcast are to interview more eccentric characters,” he said. “We’ve already done episodes with inventors, drug dealers, gun shop owners, voice actors and comedians. The plan is to have more people on with interesting jobs.”
With an unusual mix of real-life stories and colourful personalities, Rory’s Post Office continues to showcase compelling conversations, with Uncle Pat Tells Stories now taking centre stage as the episode Rory believes every new listener should hear first.
