The individual who drove a 4×4 vehicle onto a GAA pitch in County Wexford during the night has now come forward, following an appeal from the club…
On Monday, Blackwater GAA had earlier taken to social media to highlight damage caused to the playing surface after a vehicle entered the grounds during the night.
The club shared images of the damage on their social media, along with some pictures of the vehicle, while calling for the individual to come forward.
The vehicle left visible tyre marks across the pitch, causing damage to the surface and leaving the club facing the task of repairing the affected areas.
The club appealed to anyone who might have information about the incident to come forward. Less than two hours later, the individual involved had contacted the club and identified themselves.
“The person responsible has come forward and the matter will be resolved. We are satisfied with the outcome and consider the matter closed. Thank you for everyone who contacted us,” their statement reads.
Blackwater GAA operates both adult and underage teams from its grounds. The club has invested significantly in its facilities over the years, including a second pitch and walking track.
The incident is particularly frustrating for a voluntary sporting organisation, where the playing surface is an important community asset maintained through the efforts of club members and volunteers.
