Wexford native Niall “Boom Boom” Kennedy fought in one of the biggest fights of his career on Saturday night…

A must-win, Kennedy faced ‘Brutal’ Brendan Barret at Boston’s famous TD Garden on the undercard of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Promotion Bill, a card that also included one of Ireland’s biggest boxing stars, Katie Taylor.
In the end, the Gorey Garda won comprehensively by a unanimous decision (60-53, 60-53, 58-55) over the previously unbeaten Brendan Barrett.
Niall Kennedy remains undefeated with a 12-0-1 record in professional boxing, impressing a large Irish crowd in attendance.
Wexford's Niall Kennedy won his 12th fight as a pro in Boston last night. Back at work as a Garda on Wednesday. Many male pros have jobs, but it only seems to be mentioned with female pros.

Kennedy, a proud Gorey native, draped a Green and White flag over his shoulders following the win, in support of his former club Naomh Eanna, who’ll play St Martins in the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship final on Sunday afternoon.
