A Wexford student has been nominated for a national prize…
Seán Fitzpatrick, who attends St May’s CBS in Enniscorthy, has been nominated for a national prize at the National Gallery of Ireland.
Twenty-six artists have been shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize. The artists are aged between four and eighteen.

Enniscorthy student Sean is the only Wexford native to be nominated for the prize.
Given his talent, we now know why, with a picture of Seán’s submission provided below. Seán’s submission is a portrait of his sister, Ella and the title of the piece is called ‘Constructing Ella’.

The winner of the Zurich Portrait Prize will receive a cash award of €15,000 plus a €5,000 commission to create a work for the national portrait collection. Two additional prizes of €1,500 will be given to highly commended works from those shortlisted.
