Both Joe Canning And Anthony Daly Say That Wexford Should Fancy Their Chances Against Dublin

Wexford will take on Dublin next Saturday in Croke Park next weekend….

The match will be on at 5pm and it’s going to be one of the most important games of the Championship with both teams needing a win to keep their Leinster Championship hopes alive. A win against Dublin will see them fighting for a place in the Leinster Championship, with home games versus Westmeath and Kilkenny remaning.

A loss would be detrimental to their Leinster Championship hopes. With a loss against Dublin, and even if they still got two wins from their last two, this may only see Wexford place in 3rd place position, should other results go as expected.

Speaking on The Sunday Game, both Joe Canning and Anthony Daly said that Wexford should fancy their chances against the Dubs next weekend.

“It looks like the game. Dublin have a good record against Wexford in recent years. Bizarrely, they’re switching the game from Parnell Park to Croke Park. A packed Parnell for Dublin would be a harder place for Wexford to come out with a win,” Daly said.

Likewise, Joe Canning said reiterated these views and said that Wexford could be confident going into the game.

“I agree with Anthony. I can’t for the life of me know why they’ve took the games out of Parnell Park. Me, as a player, going up to play Dublin, you don’t want to play in Parnell Park against them. It’s hostile enough. Wexford will be happy enough with that. And getting the likes of Lee Chin back, pushing up Rory O’Connor even further, and if you add in Conor McDonald, who probably had a chip on his shoulder after being dropped, Wexford will be a little bit confident going into that,” Canning said.

Wexford are slight favourites going into the game, according to the major Irish bookmakers such as Paddy Power and Boylesports.
