Wexford’s Ryan Delaney transfers to professional football side in Wales

Wexford native Ryan Delaney has found himself a new club…

Having started his career at his hometown club Wexford in the League of Ireland, he was snapped up by Championship club Burton Albion in 2016.

After a loan spell back in Ireland with Cork City, Delaney returned to the EFL with Rochdale, AFC Wimbledon (loan) and Bolton before signing a two-year contract with League One side Morecombe in 2021.

It has since been revealed that Ryan Delaney has been snapped up by Newport County.

Newport County is a professional football club in the city of Newport, South Wales. They play in the Football League 2 division.

Speaking on the transfer, Delaney said:

“It really felt like the right move for me and I’m keen to add my strengths to the team. I’m excited to get amongst the lads and see how we can complement each other to bring the best out of the team,” he stated.
