Newly-formed archery club in Wexford on the look out for new members

Wexford’s latest Archery Ireland Target club hosted its first competition in Duncormick at the weekend…

While primarily a target archery club, this first competition was actually a Field Competition, where archers walk from target to target, scoring on different-sized target faces at different distances, some marked and some needing your best guess!

CúChulainn members in Wexford were joined by archers from other clubs and some members of the ‘parent’ club, CúChulainn Archers, Ardee, Co. Louth.  The founder members of the club in Wexford were also the founder members of the club in Ardee and are hoping to keep the connection going, with members of both clubs coming together regularly to compete and socialise.

CúChulainn Wexford started indoors in Rathangan Hall during the spring and moved some weeks ago to the outdoor training venue near Duncormick where the competition took place.

Saturday’s weather was a bit disappointing, and the ‘Ardee lads and lassies’ had a good-natured laugh about the Sunny South East. Thankfully, Sunday’s weather improved.

The competition was a two-day event and the results for the CúChulainn members are as follows:

Results:

Men’s Compound 2nd Place Fiachra Judge (CúChulainn Ardee)3rd Niall Bradley (CúChulainn Ardee)

The club look forward to hosting more competitions during the summer.
