Male pedestrian (80s) dies in Gorey after being struck by vehicle

A male pedestrian in his 80s has sadly died in a road collision in Co Wexford.

Gardaí say the collision occurred in the townland of Aske, outside Gorey, at around 7.30pm last night.

It is believed that he was walking along the stretch of road, visiting a nearby neighbour.

Emergency services attended the scene.

As reported on RTE, the man’s body was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The road was still closed off at 8am on Friday morning, with diversions in place. The scene was preserved for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the vicinity of Aske at the time of the collision to contact Gorey Garda Station on 053 942 1222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
