The new Faythe Harriers Senior hurling manager is a familiar face

It’s that time of the year again when GAA AGM’s start to take place….

One club who will have a new face in charge of their Senior hurling team in the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship is the Faythe Harriers GAA Club in Wexford.

The Faythe Harriers have appointed JJ Doyle as their new manager.

The club confirmed the news this afternoon, and in turn, confirmed that former Waterford Senior hurling manager, Derek McGrath, will be stepping away too.

“The club would like to welcome JJ Doyle & his new management team on board for our Senior hurlers for 2024, including selectors Nicky Lawlor and Paul Bridges. Best wishes to JJ and his full team for the year ahead.

At this time, the club would also like to express our thanks and gratitude to the outgoing management team for the past 4 years of Tony Walsh, Derek McGrath and also their management team.

Sack and Derek put in a massive effort over the past 4 years and gave their all to maintaining the highest possible standards within the club. Best wishes to both and also to the rest of the outgoing management team and to Donal Treacy the S&C coach,” the club said.

JJ Doyle has been involved in an array of Wexford inter-county teams. His most notable involvements with Wexford GAA was being the manager of the successful u-21 team that achieved the treble of Leinster Hurling titles.

Along with that, he was also a part of Davy Fitzgerald’s backroom team, acting as a selector for Fitzgerald for five years, and notably, when they won the 2019 Leinster Senior hurling title too.

In the world of camogie, Doyle was even more successful as a manager. JJ Doyle managed the Wexford Senior Camogie team to All-Ireland championship success in 2010, 2011, and 2012 which marked an incredible period in Wexford camogie history.
