Wexford hurling manager Keith Rossiter provides injury update on Lee Chin

The Wexford hurlers will be looking forward to an upcoming Walsh Cup final…

After Keith Rossiter’s Wexford side defeated Kilkenny over the weekend, they have set up a Walsh Cup tie against Galway.

The game will be played on Sunday, 28 January, at 1:30pm in Dr Cullen Park in Carlow.

One man who missed out on the action against Kilkenny was Lee Chin.

Chin hobbled off in a calf injury during the second-half with 47 minutes gone on the clock. Before hobbling off, he had picked up a personal tally of 2-07.

Speaking to Dave Devereux of Irish Independent, new Wexford hurling manager Rossiter said that Chin may be back for Sunday’s clash, but they will decide closer to the time:

“We’ll see what way Lee is moving in training on Wednesday night. We’ll put him through his paces with the medical team and see if he’s in a position to be selected or not. We don’t know at the minute. He trained hard on Sunday morning, along with the rest of the guys that are coming back from injury. It’s probably a bit early to tell, but if he’s right he’ll be available for selection and if there’s any inkling that he’s not he won’t be,” Rossiter told the Irish Independent.

Although Chin, his Wexford team-mates, and the Wexford supporters will be eager for him to get back on the field, it would not be worth the risk if he isn’t fully right, especially with the Allianz Hurling League just around the corner. Wexford will open their Allianz Hurling League to Kilkenny (away) on Feb 4th.

Tickets for the Wexford-Galway Walsh Cup final clash can be purchased online. Entry is by ticket only and tickets are available to purchase online here. Tickets are priced at €10 for adults. There are no concessions for students or OAPs. U16s are free and do not need a ticket.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Wexford Senior Footballers open their National League campaign against London in McGovern Park, Ruislip at 1:00pm.
