Two Wexford natives on successful Irish Men’s Pool team that won European title

A young Wexford man proved instrumental in winning the u-18 European pool championship lately, but it wasn’t the only Wexford-related pool success…

The Irish Men’s A who won the European A championship in 8 ball pool this week too.

Two lads from Enniscorthy were on the successful team, both Ben Doyle Robert Brady.

The team consisted of Stevie Dempsey, Niall Sweeney, Gary Bracken, Paul Kelly, Charlie Ruddy (manager), Shaun Sharkey (captain), and then the two Enniscorthy lads both Ben Doyle and Robert Brady.

The Irish team finished 4 in the group with only 4 progressing to the semi final. It set up a game with the only enemy England. Ireland defeated England 8-2 in the semi-final, and then they went on to beat Malta 8-4 in the final.

Meanwhile, Wexford’s Ben Doyle reached the semi-final of the main event, but he was narrowly defeated on a score-line of 8-6 by pro player Luke Gilbert from England.

It’s great to see that Wexford continues to thrive in the world of pool.
