Details for Gorey Rangers FAI Junior Cup semi-final have been released

Gorey Rangers defeated Peake Villa of Tipperary in the quarter-final..

The match, which took place at Ramstown in Gorey, seen Gorey Rangers go 1-0 up after just 10 minutes courtesy of an Adam Territt strike. Shortly after play resumed, however, Peake Villa went straight on the attack and Ronan McGuire put one into the back of the net.

The game finished 1-1 apiece, and when the teams could not be separated at the end of extra time, penalties were needed. The penalties resulted in a Gorey Rangers win, which now sees them enter the final four of the competition.

Gorey Rangers will now host Waterford’s Villa FC in the final four, while Pike Rovers and Cockhill Celtic will meet in the other semi-final.

Details of the upcoming fixture have been published.

The match will take place at Bunclody AFC’s grounds on Sunday, 7th April 2024 at 2pm.

Admission into the game costs €10, with free parking available in the grounds.

It’s great to see a Wexford team go so far in the All-Ireland competition, and now, they are just one game away from a place in the final. Villa FC will be no pushovers though. Over the Bank Holiday weekend, Villa FC, who were crowned champions of the FAI Junior Cup in 2021, defeated Killarney Celtic 7-0 in the Munster Junior Cup semi-final in what was described as an “unprecedented defeat”.
