Wexford FC held Cork City to a draw at Ferrycarrig yesterday evening…
Cork City, who currently sit at top of the League, took an early lead in the opening three minutes. Wexford continued to battle hard though and they scored a goal courtesy of Mikie Rowe on the 64th minute mark.
Wexford FC manager, James Keddy, was “definitely happy” at the end of the game, noting Wexford’s “moral courage”.
Interestingly, he also spoke about the fact that Cork are full-time, while Wexford players are only part-time, with most having to go to work the following day.
“Cork, you have to give them credit. They always add to the League. They’re a massive club. They’re full time – and that’s probably where we want to go in the next couple of years. It’s important to move on as a club.
“It can be difficult when you’re part-time playing Friday and then Monday – especially when you’re travelling to Kerry too,” he said.
Wexford will take on Treaty United next Friday at home.
