Top 5 places around the New Ross district to relax and for your mindfulness

Following on from previous articles on relaxation spots around Bunclody, Enniscorthy, and Gorey, we are here again to give your own insight into the top places around the New Ross district to relax and for your mindfulness…

5) River Corock, Foulksmills Village

The park beside the river Corock in Foulksmills Village provides an excellent place to relax and chill out on the banks of the peaceful waterway. A nice place to sit and enjoy the day is the riverside on a calm, sunny day with gentle waters flowing beside the picturesque stone bridge.

Late afternoon or evening time would be best to get the sun lighting up the river and the beautiful stone work on the bridge to complete a stunning vista.

Choose a lovely spot by the river anywhere around 52.313735,-6.748811 on Google Maps in the Village Park.

4) Blackhall strand, Carrick

Blackhall Strand is a gorgeous little beach on our southern coast close to Carrick on Bannow village. It has a lovely sandy beach that stretches for about 600 metres.

The lovely sandy Bay invites you to sit down in the sun and take in the rays on this lovely stretch of the coastline. The views out to sea are so relaxing as far as the eye can see.

The gentle waves will add to the sense of a real chill out time and the beach is tranquil most of the time. Car parking at 52.214227,-6.754250 on Google Maps or anywhere close by and then walk down to the beach from there.

3) Dollar Bay Beach, Duncannon

Dollar Bay is a fabulous little bay tucked away on a stretch of Waterford Harbour, near Duncannon.

The beach has lovely views across the Estuary to the Waterford side and is cool for spotting fishing boats coming and going. In the sun it’s an amazing spot to chill out.

I’d recommend to get down late to get some solo time and watch the sunset over the water. The laneway to the beach is at 52.197472,-6.899553.

This lane is very steep and narrow so my advice would be to park at the top somewhere walk straight down to the beach.

2) Slade Harbour, Hook Peninsula

Slade Harbour is an unbelievably cute and beautiful Harbour on the Hook peninsula.

You will fall in love with this place as I did on my first visit years ago. Park up in the village and walk the short distance to anywhere down the far side of the pier near the boat entrance to the harbour. Plonk yourself in a safe place near the end of the pier. With that, you can relax and take in the splendid views of the harbour’s seaside views, the awesomely quaint harbour itself and the impressive castle.

It’s just a great place to unwind and watch the life of the Harbour go by with Fishermen and tourists going about their day.

Car parking at 52.134203,-6.910768

1) High Hill, New Ross Town

Townies, you don’t even have to hardly budge to get to this place.

New Ross Town Council have done an incredible job in turning High Hill into an amazing recreation space for the people of Ross. The small area is awash with beautiful tree plants and flowers. It has some quirky bits and pieces too and two brilliant street art pieces, a Baby deer (fawn) and a Horse.

Have a little walk around. Then, if you feel like it have a seat and look over the Barrowside part of town, a truly gorgeous view and see the magnificent church up the hill. It’s a great spot to chill out.

High Hill is located in the town centre at 52.396487,-6.943863
