Although the provincials are not over yet, the All-Ireland hurling odds have been updated to reflect the most recent standings…
Before you point out that if you “throw a tenner on Wexford, you’ll lose a tenner”, this article is primarily just used to point out the bookies’ view.
It’s no surprise to see that Limerick remain as favourites, priced at 8/11. John Kiely’s side are on the drive for five and they are not going anywhere, with a Munster final to look forward to still. Their Munster final opponents will be Clare, who are 9/2 second favourites in the eyes of the bookies.
Cork fans will be relatively happy with their odds at 5/1. They look like a team that are improving steadily as the Championship continues to progress.
Wexford are priced as outsiders at 28/1, who started the campaign priced at 33/1 in most major bookmakers. Wexford have not won the All-Ireland Senior hurling championship since 1996. It’s interesting that Kilkenny are third favourites, priced at 5/1.
Wexford lost out their previous match to Kilkenny, but they will be looking forward to an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final clash against the Joe McDonagh Cup runners-up, either Laois or Offaly. If they win, they’ll take on the losers of the Munster final (Clare or Limerick), one week later in Semple Stadium, Thurles.
All-Ireland SHC oods:
Limerick – 8/11
Clare – 9/2
Kilkenny – 5/1
Cork – 5/1
Dublin – 28/1
Wexford – 28/1
Offaly- 1000/1
Laois – 1000/1
