The Wexford minor hurlers didn’t win anything this year…
Their dominant win over Cork in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final was the highlight of the year for the Wexford Minor hurling team.
However, that was short-lived, as Michael Jacob’s side would be defeated by Clare in the All-Ireland quarter-final the following week in Semple Stadium.
One player, who was a major stand-out in all the games for Wexford, was attacker and sharp-shooter, Sean O’Brien.
The fast-paced O’Brien, who played in full-forward for the Wexford minor hurlers throughout the year, was also the team’s consistent free-taker.
O’Brien scored 1-9 in an outstanding effort against Cork. This was part of his haul of 3-67 across seven matches, including a 0-13 game in the Leinster MHC win over Kilkenny.
While it may not be silverware for Wexford, it’s still a great achievement for the young Wexford hurler from the Rathgarogue Cushinstown side to be named within the best fifteen players across the whole country.
The full team can be seen below:

There’s no doubt that O’Brien will become a regular feature on Wexford hurling sides well into the future.
