Wexford’s winning culture and identity to be celebrated on RTÉ Radio 1’s The County Measure

Wexford’s winning culture and identity will be celebrated on RTÉ Radio 1’s The County Measure.

Join writer and broadcaster Vincent Woods as he wanders across Wexford on Sunday September 1st at 10 AM on RTÉ Radio 1. The County Measure uncovers the vibrant arts, history, heritage, sport, and diverse communities of Co. Wexford.

From awe-inspiring archery in Dunbrody, a bonanza of books in Wexford, to the pulse of port traffic in Rosslare, Vincent takes a measure of all that “the model county” has to offer.

“Wexford pulls you in – an unexpected meeting under these vast, teeming skies that seem to simultaneously dwarf the landscape and make it bigger. This is the light and sweep that the Vikings met and harnessed, the Normans looked to in their shaping and building. And it’s part of what imbues today’s Wexford with a rare, quiet energy and a pull of connection to the bigger world, and the future,” says Vincent Woods.

Colm Tóibín, one of Ireland’s most acclaimed authors, has written an exclusive new piece about his native Wexford for the programme.

Musician Zack Boland will also feature with brand new music on The County Measure.

The County Measure is a landmark RTÉ Radio 1 series that explores the identity and communities of Ireland’s 32 counties.
