Wexford GAA County Board appoint new Wexford minor hurling manager

Not only are there changes coming for the Wexford u-20 hurling set-up, but the Wexford minor managerial set-up is changing too…

Former Wexford Senior hurler and Oulart-The Ballagh clubman, Michael Jacob, has stepped down from his role as Wexford minor hurling manager.

The news was confirmed at a Wexford GAA County Board meeting, held on Tuesday October 15th at Chadwicks Wexford Park.

“The chairman expressed his sincere thanks to Michael Jacob, who has stepped down from roles Wexford minor hurling manager. He also thanked their backroom teams for their efforts and diligence to working for Wexford hurling,” the statement read.

Ahead of the upcoming 2025 season with the Wexford minor hurlers, a new manager was proposed and ratified.

Richie Flynn, who hails from the Rathnure St Annes GAA Club has been appointed as the new manager of the Wexford minor hurling team.

Flynn was part of David Redmond’s managerial team with the St Annes Senior hurlers this year, while he was also involved with David Redmond Wexford u-20 team as a selector in the past in 2021.

In his role, he will be assisted by Shane Carley (Glynn-Barntown); Aidan Murphy (Shelmalier); Neil White (Waterford), while one additional member of the managerial set-up is still to be added.

Meanwhile, in related news, there will be also a new management team for the Wexford u-20 hurling set-up after Buffers Alley club man, Aidan O’Conor, stepped away from the role.
