An iconic nightclub in Wexford is set to close its doors…
The Stores nightclub, based in the heart of Wexford town, will be closing their doors for business. Although Wexford has a bundle of pubs and late bars on offer to the general public, The Stores was the only nightclub in the town.
The nightclub was opened back in 1988 by the late Michael Tierney, who passed away just last year, resulting in an outpouring of grief locally for the man who had helped so many.
According to the Wexford People, it is believed that The Stores nightclub employ approximately 20 people from the town and surrounding neighbourhoods – and that the staff will be transferred to the Riverbank House Hotel – a hotel just across the bridge in Wexford town.
At the time of writing, it is unknown what the property of The Stores will be turned into.
The closing of the once very popular night club will no doubt impact the social and nightlife scene of Wexford town. Having being opened for almost three decades, the closure will also have an impact on the many people who had worked there, or have shared fond memories of dancing the night away there.
