A Wexford woman has released a brand-new Christmas song…
Sheila O’Sullivan, originally from the village of Kilmuckridge in Wexford, has released a new Christmas song entitled “Are you coming for Christmas?”
The song follows a story about a young Irish man who followed a girl to Boston in America and how his family – and his mother in particular – wishes that he’ll decide to travel 3,000 miles back to Ireland for Christmas time.
From a mother’s perspective, the song reminisces on past times such as when they used to intertwine their hands in Ireland, a place where “the lights shine brighter.”
Described as an “Irish Christmas Ballad”, it is both written and performed by Sheila O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan came to prominence back in 2005 after their band ‘The Jades’ entered Irish TV series You’re a Star, which was to determine Ireland’s Eurovision song entry.
“It’s a bit overwhelming to be sharing a new song after 20 years since The Jades and at 41 who do I think I am? I’m almost embarrassed about it if I’m really honest but at the same time music is there to be listened to, so what the heck, here goes,” Sheila said.
She also thanked John Murphy who put together the video.
