Opponent revealed for Wexford boxer Dean Gonzalez Furlong as fight date looms

The War in Waterford card has the makings of a cracker…

Three Wexford boxers will be fighting on the undercard of the Dylan Moran and Tyrone McKenna headline bout in less than two week’s time on December 7th.

The three new professional boxers from Wexford who will feature on the undercard include Dean Walsh, David Kennedy, and Dean Gonzalez Furlong.

With the fight date drawing closer, the promoters are busy organising the match-ups for the fighters on the card.

Wexford native, Dean Gonzalez Furlong, has received word of his opponent.

He will be fighting 43-year old Polish boxer, Sebastian Wojtan. Wojtan has a professional record of 2 wins and 11 losses.

In the other corner, 21-year-old Wexford man Dean Gonzalez Furlong who has been enjoying a training camp alongside Dean Walsh in Furlong’s hometown of Torrevieja, now has a professional record of 2 wins and 0 losses and he’ll be expected to continue his winning ways against the Polish opponent, who is more than twice his age.

Gonzalez-Furlong’s father used to run Wexford CBS before they emigrated to Spain when the new pro was just five years of age. In his first pro fight, Dean donned the purple and gold colours of Wexford when he was in the ring and he has plans to do the same this time around in front of a large Wexford following that will be attending the event.

The opponents for Dean Walsh and David Kennedy have not yet been revealed by the promoters, but keep your eyes peeled on Wexford Weekly for first-to-know updates.

The boxing event will take place in the SETU Arena in Waterford on December 7th. For those without tickets for the event, there will be a live stream available, which can be accessed on pay-per-view via ProBox.
