Rathnure made three changes ahead of the game. One of those changes was replacing midfielder Luke Codd with Ciaran O’Connor.
Directly after the throw-in, Rathnure’s Ciaran O’Connor was given a straight red card by the referee for what he deemed to be an illegal striking action during the throw-in.

It will be an uphill battle for Wexford side Rathnure now, having to play the rest of the match with 14 men against the Galway and Connacht champions.
