Teen arrested after damaging Oulart GAA pitch with his scrambler

Less than one week after the incident took place, a teenager has been arrested…

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club were in the headlines this week. They released a statement, along with pictures, highlighting that their pitch was damaged by teenagers on a scrambler.

In the statement, they also said that the teenagers used intimidating behaviour too.

An Oulart-The Ballagh GAA club member confronted the teenagers asking them to stop and to move on. In the meantime, the Oulart-The Ballagh man was able to grab the teenager’s helmet for his scrambler which caused the teenagers to be more annoyed, leading to aggression and a physical altercation.

A video of the incident, which shows the teenagers throwing punches at a member of the Oulart GAA club, had then surfaced on TikTok in the following days.

It is believed that this proved to be a crucial piece of evidence in helping to identify the teenagers that caused criminal damage to the pitch.

On Monday, An Garda Síochána in Wexford confirmed that a teenager was arrested and that the scrambler bike had been seized too.

“Gardaí investigating an incident of Criminal Damage which occurred at Oulart GAA pitch on the 7th of January 2025 conducted a search of a property under warrant last weekend. A scrambler motorcycle was seized along with other items of evidence for forensic examination. A teenager was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Enniscorthy Garda Station. The teenager was later released from custody following interview. A file will now be sent to the Garda Youth Diversion Office as is required by law,” the Garda statement read.
