Wexford man’s car is broken into twice in one week

A Wexford man’s car has been broken into two times in the space of a week…

Alfie O’Sullivan from Enniscorthy had parked his car overnight outside of the Creative Grounds premises on Irish Street on Tuesday January 7th.

“My car was broken into & a few bits taken. Two males, grey tracksuit bottoms & dark tops with hoodies. Garda notified. Seen by a few witnesses but no names as yet,” Alfie said after the initial break-in.

Less than one week later, Alfie’s car was broken into once again. This time, Alfie confronted the thieves, however, he stated that they did not seem to care whatsoever.

“On Saturday 11th January, 10:30pm Irish Street, Enniscorthy, my partner heard a noise downstairs suggesting someone was breaking into our car (for those who don’t know, we were broken into on Tuesday morning also). I went out to the car & caught two adult males inside the car & told them to get out. They weren’t startled, they didn’t try & run, they really didn’t seem to care. I managed to get them out and told them they were on CCTV. They made a few threats & then casually walked up into Market Square. Luckily, we were able to record the whole event, identify the thieves & give it to the Garda,” Alfie said.

CCTV footage of the thieves and the confrontation were handed to An Garda Síochána in Enniscorthy.

The Enniscorthy native is now hoping to set up a neighbourhood watch programme in Enniscorthy in a bid to help alleviate such criminal acts taking place.

He believes that the local Gardaí are overwhelmed at the moment, allowing criminal acts to take place without repercussion.

“I will be looking to set up an Enniscorthy wide Community Alert group over the coming weeks in an attempt to be proactive towards the current situation. This is a great town and it’s sadly lost its way a little. As many of you also do, I have a young child & I want her to be proud of where she lives & feel safe & part of a supportive community . Together, I promise you, we can thrive as a local society,” Alfie said.
