New coffee hut business launches in Wexford with poignant touch

A new coffee-hut business has opened up in Wexford…

The new coffee hut container is located at the Horsewood GAA pitch in Wexford.

The business is owned by Mol Duffin-Byrne. Moll decided to ‘soft launch’ the business two weeks ago, opening up the doors of the hut in what can be described as an introductory day for staff and management who are learning on the job.

On the wall, one of the first things that customers will see – alongside some delicious treats and snacks – will be a framed picture.

The picture is a framed picture of her father, Michael (Mick) Byrne who passed away on February 1st 2024. Mick was an avid GAA fan and managed the Horsewood Senior football team in the past. The picture itself – a picture of Mick managing the Horsewood GAA team against St Annes in the 2009 Wexford County Final – hangs proudly on the wall.

For Moll, it’s a reminder that he’s still close to her and that he’s still looking over her:

“Daddy was a proud Horeswood GAA man and spent every spare minute in the pitch, where he made so many good friends over the years. I am so sad that he’s not here to see me set up my little business in the place that was his second home, but I truly believe that he sent me on this path, and is looking down delighted that he has somebody at the pitch that can keep an eye on the comings and goings,” Moll said about her late father.
