Wexford came away with the points after they defeated Clare over the weekend…
Wexford will take on Galway next weekend in front of their home crowd Wexford Park and attention will now turn to that.
On Sunday, an array of Wexford hurlers performed excellently in Ennis, helping the Model County to come away with their first win of the Allianz League campaign.
Three Wexford hurlers have been named on this week’s GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week.
They include Richie Lawlor, Lee Chin and Seamus Casey.
Richie Lawlor scored two points from play from the wing-back position; the Faythe Harriers man has been named in the corner-back position.
Meanwhile, Lawlor’s clubmate – the returning Lee Chin – was a force to be reckoned with in the centre-forward line against Clare. His physicality, ball-winning ability, powerful runs, and scoring prowess were key to their victory. He has been named at centre-forward, while he has also been nominated for the Player of the Week, alongside Darragh McCarthy (Tipperary) and Oisin Kelly (Offaly).
Lastly, Seamus Casey was named as corner forward. The Oylegate-Glenbrien club man was a revelation for the Wexford forward line against Clare, finishing with a personal tally of 1-03 from play and assisting several other scores. His goal proved crucial for the Wexford team, which occurred fifteen minutes into the second half when Wexford were leading by four points.
Even though the three Wexford players will not take much notice to this, it’s always good to receive national plaudits and an individual accolade like this after performing well.
