Wexford entrepreneur Des O’Neill is looking for a right-hand person, and offering a front-row seat to how a group of businesses is really run...
Most people learn how a business works from the outside, through courses, books, or years of slow promotion. One job in Ferns offers a shortcut: a seat beside the founder and CEO.
Des O’Neill, founder of the OmniPro Group, is hiring an Executive Support Coordinator to work directly alongside him. The group has eleven businesses serving the accounting profession and SME’s in Ireland and the UK, including CPDStore, one of the largest CPD platforms for accountants in both countries.
O’Neill has spent more than 20 years teaching accounting firm owners how to build better businesses. The person who gets this job will learn from him in a different way, by watching those ideas being put into practice up close.
“I teach business owners for a living. This person won’t hear the theory from a stage. They’ll see the decisions being made, the priorities changing, and how a group of businesses actually runs day to day,” says O’Neill.
Fifteen minutes that matter
Every morning at eight, O’Neill and his right-hand person will meet for fifteen minutes to set the day. From there, the job is to make that day happen: run his diary so every meeting has a purpose, manage his inboxes so nothing slips, and own a task board where every action has an owner and a date.
That gives the successful candidate a daily view of how a founder decides what matters, what waits, and what gets dropped. Few roles show you that so early.
Learning with a plan
Support is built in rather than left to chance. The new hire will have a named trainer for the first eight weeks and a written development path. There’s a formal review at six months, and progress depends on what the person can do, not how long they’ve been there.
There is also a clear destination. The advert describes a path to the executive team as trust and independence grow, and says the seat the person would grow into “already exists on our organisation chart.”
“I’m not looking for someone to just keep my diary. I’m looking for someone to grow into the business alongside me,” O’Neill continued.
Who it’s for
The company isn’t asking for a particular background. The advert names hotel front-of-house managers, medical and legal practice managers, events coordinators, stage managers, and club or county board administrators as possible fits. Applicants need at least three years’ experience of managing a complex workload, competing deadlines and demanding people.
The advert is honest about the pace. O’Neill works fast and “is always evolving and learning,” and the business is growing.
“This role has been hard to fill because it is a hard role,” it says.
For the right person, that pace is the education.
How to apply
The role is full time in Ferns, Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30, with a salary of €45,000–€60,000 depending on experience.
Applicants send a CV and a written answer of no more than 200 words to one question: tell us about the most chaotic thing you’ve ever had to organise, and what you did. Send both to https://jointeamomnipro.ie/job/executive-support-coordinator/ by 13/11/26 . Shortlisted candidates are invited to a practical interview built around a real morning in the role. A start before Christmas is welcome, and early January at the latest.
