Watch: Why Cian Byrne received a straight red against Clare

Wexford travelled to Cusack Park in Ennis on Sunday and came away with their first points of the campaign…

Wexford will take on Galway next weekend in front of their home crowd Wexford Park. With their first points on the board, Wexford will be hoping to build on that and get a result against the Tribesmen this weekend.

One Wexford player set to miss that important match is corner-forward Cian Byrne, after he was sent off by referee Thomas Gleeson with just six minutes to go for an accidental strike on Clare defender, Darragh Lohan.

The incident was picked up by the cameras at the match and a segment produced on Allianz League Sunday later that night. At the time of writing, it is unknown whether Wexford will appeal the red card decision or not.
