A new Gaelic Football game will be released this summer…
The game, Gaelic Football 25, will be released in the summer with the developers now at the final stages of completion.
The game was developed by the team at Buck Eijit Games, with Belfast’s Peadar McMahon leading the development. The production of this game has been their primary focus, as it’s the only game that the company has been developing.
The game has been in development for the last number of years, but it’s not long away now from being placed on our shelves and being available to play.
“We’re now putting the finishing touches on the game, and as we gear up for release, we’ll be looking for play-testers, game commentary and music to add to the game,” McMahon said.
The game will include both single-player and local multi-player. The game will be available on PS5, X-Box, and PC for all to enjoy.

Wexford – and all 32 counties, along with London and New York, will be an option to play with within the game. Club teams will not be available in the game, but there is an option to create a club via the ‘Creation’ suite.
The game has not been licenced by the GAA. This means that team-sheets will not include real names of GAA players. However, Buck Eijit Games did note that all teams will be customisable, giving gamers the ability to change the line-ups should they wish.
It will not be the first-ever Gaelic Football game to be released. Over a decade ago, Gaelic Games: Football was the highest-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time in Ireland. However, the game became recognised for it’s poor game-play, laughable commentary, and poor graphics. This new game, which has no links to the previous game, was born out of Peader’s frustration for the Gaelic Games Football games, developed by Transmission Games.
“It’s been inspiring to see the excitement from our growing community and we truly appreciated their support throughout this journey,” Peadar said about the support.
It’s important to note that the Gaelic Football game will follow the old rules, given that it was in development for the last number of years – and the new rules, including the 2-point ark and hop and go – will not feature in the initial release, however, it is hoped that if it is a success, they will feature in the follow-up game.
