Two new padel courts are being built in Wexford

Two new padel courts are currently being built in a Wexford location….

Padel is a form of tennis that’s rapidly growing across Europe. In 2017, just three padel courts existed across all of Ireland. However, the growth of the sport across Ireland and Europe cannot be overstated. Now, 50 padel courts exist across Ireland, while the number is due to double by the end of this year.

Padel is currently the fasting growing sport in Ireland. Padel is a racket sport that is always played in doubles on an enclosed court. It is much like a cross between tennis and squash where the ball can bounce off the glass wall or metallic mesh that surrounds the court. A padel game is usually played outdoors.

The new padel courts are being built at Active Tribe in Courtown. It will also be a welcomed addition to Active Tribe’s Leisure Centre in Courtown, with a swimming pool, gym, climbing wall, and zip line already in use here. The foundations are currently set for the two new padel courts at Active Tribe – and it is due to open to the public in approximately three months.

It adds another outlet for outdoor activities in County Wexford, and specifically North Wexford, as this will be the first padel court to exist in the North side of the County.

Other padel courts in Wexford are located in Rosslare in Rosslare’s Community and Sports Centre and at Kelly’s Resort in Rosslare.
