The Wexford Senior hurlers will return to Championship action this weekend…
Wexford will take on Davy Fitzgerald’s Antrim team in the opening round of the Leinster Senior hurling championship this Saturday at 2pm in Wexford Park. It’s a game that both teams would have pinpointed as a must-win.
Wexford Senior hurling boss, Keith Rossiter, recently spoke to Sports Beat Xtra ahead of the upcoming Antrim game this weekend.
Along with preparations for the upcoming game, Rossiter spoke passionately about where he wants to see Wexford hurling:
“There is pressure with it. It’s great being a Wexford man. I want Wexford to win – I won’t say more than the people of Wexford – but just as much as every hurling man in Wexford, I want Wexford to win. I want to see silverware on the table. I want Wexford to be at the top table in hurling. I want us to have good performances. I want to enjoy it – I want the supporters to enjoy it. I’m a supporter myself, as well as being Wexford manager.”
“That brings its own pressure, knowing that you’re leading it. But it’s a privilege to do it – and being able to do it. The enjoyment for me is being able to see Wexford players perform at the highest level,” Rossiter said.
The Oulart-The Ballagh man also spoke about Wexford’s League campaign, the momentum from the Limerick game, a recent challenge match with Kildare, and how his backroom team have a headache with their selection, with many places still up for grabs.
