Pro Wexford boxer goes 5-0 with latest win on headline bill in Spain

While most of the boxing world’s attention was on Conor Benn and Chris Eubank over the weekend, one Wexford boxer also had an excellent win…

Wexford native, Dean Gonzalez Furlong, went 5-0 in the professional boxing ranks on Saturday night.

For the second-time running, the Wexford man headlined a bill in Alicante, Spain. He was up against Jakub Laskowski, at the Pabellon Municipal, Catral.

It has been a busy few months for Gonzalez-Furlong who has fought three times – and won three times – since December.

It’s clear that the young Wexford man is eager to continue adding to his professional record in a bid to land bigger and better fights against higher-ranked opponents.

One thing is for sure: he is on the right track.

Meanwhile, in related boxing news, David Bomber Kennedy – another professional Wexford boxer – emerged victorious from his latest pro boxing bout at the National Stadium, meaning he has now gone 2-0 in the pro boxing ranks.

Over the last few months, there has been talks of a potential professional boxing fight taking place at a hotel in Wexford. Whether that comes to fruition or not remains to be seen. However, with three Wexford boxers (Furlong, Kennedy, Walsh) now all plying their trade in professional boxing, it wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary either.
