Wexford GAA club to be awarded €1,000 worth of training equipment

Beko and Leinster GAA have launched the 2025 Beko Club Champion, an initiative open to all GAA clubs in Wexford…

The accolade rewards and celebrates local GAA club heroes who go above and beyond to help their local community and club. In 2024, Alan O’Neill of Ballymitty Handball Club was chosen as the Wexford Beko Club Champion for his ongoing dedication and commitment.

Celebrating its 9th year in partnering with Leinster GAA, Beko is encouraging people to enter by submitting details via a simple online mechanic. To enter, people are asked to explain in no more than 200 words which volunteer in their club deserves to be a Beko Club Champion here. Alternatively, there is the option to upload a short video to a club’s social media platform using #BekoClubChampion.

Aiming to highlight the incredible volunteer work carried out by club members, nominations are now open, giving clubs a chance of winning €1,000 worth of GAA equipment. Meath football star Sean Rafferty was present on the day to launch the 2025 Beko Club Champion alongside Wexford legend Larry O’Gorman, 2025 Ladies Football All Ireland champion Niamh Hetherton and 2022 Camogie Player of the year Miriam Walsh.

All Leinster GAA clubs are encouraged to enter before the closing date for submissions on Friday, 26th September at 5pm with one club from each county to be awarded €1,000 worth of training equipment, as selected by an independent judging panel.

Speaking of the 2025 Beko Club Champion initiative, Cathaoirleach Comhairle Laighean Derek Kent told Wexford Weekly:

“Beko’s ongoing support for clubs across Leinster has had a real and lasting impact over the past nine years. It not only provides valuable resources that benefit clubs on the ground, but more importantly, it shines a light on the often-unsung heroes whose dedication keeps our games alive at grassroots level. We’re delighted to continue celebrating and supporting that vital work through the 2025 campaign.”

Shane Kelly, head of Sales & Marketing, Beko Ireland added:

“This is a great initiative to be involved with and at Beko we are very proud to be able to recognise heroes of GAA clubs as we know the levels of dedication and commitment they put in on their own time.

We first partnered with Leinster GAA nine years ago and it is great to see how the partnership has evolved over the years. The fact that interest levels from clubs across the province continues to increase proves how much great volunteering is taking place. We want to encourage all clubs to nominate a worthy club member and be in with a chance of becoming a Beko Club Champion,” Shane said.
