End of an era for Wexford café as owners announce closure

A Wexford cafe has closed its doors to the public….

The Wilds Cafe, based on Weafer St in Enniscorthy town, has announced their immediate closure. They have been wowing customers since the day it opened in 2015.

In Feburary of this year, there was a fire at the property which led to its temporary closure. They have remained closed to the public since, but the plans were to re-open.

However, the owners have now decided not to re-open. The café served breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch, with menu highlights such as ricotta pancakes, avocado on toast, open sandwiches, soups, quiches, and imaginative vegetable dishes.

The adjoining shop offered handcrafted homewares, gifts, artisan foods and locally made products like Bean & Goose chocolates.

“I have been putting off writing this post to be honest, as it feels so heavy and stirs so much emotion, especially when I look back on the images.”

“As most of you know, wehad a fire back in February and wer remained closed while we awaited the insurance settlement. After much soul searching and deliberation, we have had to make the very difficult decision not to re-open.”

“We are sorry to have to say googbye to our beautiful cafe and shop, to our staff, to our wonderful local producers and suppliers, neighbours and friends in Enniscorthy and beyond.”

Their cafe in Wicklow will remain open to the public.
