Wexford woman honoured with national ‘Manager of the Year’ award

Wexford’s own Lisa Gowan has been recognised on the national stage after winning the prestigious Reckitt Manager award, presented to her by broadcaster Anton Savage.

Speaking after the win, she said the honour represents far more than a trophy. The Reckitt Manager was the prize name for winning Manager of the Year (Hickey’s Pharmacy, Gorey) at the Pharmacy Excellence Awards held on Saturday 29th of November, 2025.

Before expanding on her reaction, she summed up just how meaningful the award is.
She says the recognition reflects both her work and the heart of the community she serves:

“Winning this award means more than words can express. To be recognised among hundreds of outstanding nominees across the country is truly humbling. This achievement reflects not only my hard work but also the dedication, passion and heart that goes into serving our community every day,” Lisa said.

Lisa was quick to shift the spotlight towards those around her. She highlights that the award is shared with the team who support her daily:

“A huge thank you to my incredible team – you make coming to work every day a joy. Your support, commitment to patient care and willingness to go the extra mile inspires me constantly. This award belongs to us all,” she told Wexford Weekly.

Community impact is at the centre of Lisa’s work, something she is immensely proud of.
She explains that community-driven initiatives are a vital part of her role.

“I’m also proud of the community initiatives we run and support. Whether it’s health awareness campaigns, patient support, charity work or simply being there for those who need us, I believe community is at the core of pharmacy – and I’m lucky to be part of one that thrives on kindness and connection.”

Looking ahead, Lisa expressed appreciation for those who support her and her work. She shares a message of gratitude and optimism for the future:

“Thank you to the judges, everyone who nominated me, and all who believe in the work we do. Here’s to continuing to grow, support more patients, and make a difference one day at a time,” she concluded.
