Wexford jobs at risk as EuroGiant enters liqauidation

There are multiple Wexford jobs at risk…

It comes following the news that bargain store, Euro Giant, has entered liquidation.

The liquidation may impact all of their stores across Ireland. The discount retailer has 77 stores across the country, employing around 640 staff, which are now under threat.

There are currently three EuroGiant stores in County Wexford; these are based in the tows of Gorey, Enniscorthy, and Wexford.

In total, there are 640 jobs at risk as the bargain store enters a liquidation period.

EuroGeneral Limited and Bushgrove Limited, which trade as EuroGiant, have blamed “rising costs” for the decision.

A spokesperson for EuroGiant said after more than 30 years of trading, “the company has today entered court-appointed liquidation”.

“Rent and day-to-day operating expenses, along with increased competition in the retail sector, mean the business is no longer viable in its current form,” the spokesperson added.

The stores will continue to operate as normal for the time being, until a full review is carried out.
