Wexford native brings home gold from recent European Championships

A local MMA gym in County Wexford is celebrating major success following an impressive showing at the IMMAF European Championships in Serbia last week…

Under the guidance of coach Richie Ivory in Gorey, the team produced a series of standout performances on the continental stage.

Leading the charge was Sam Lynch, who captured gold in the Youth Flyweight division after a dominant run through the competition.

Lynch delivered high-level performances throughout the day, showcasing exceptional skill, resilience, and determination in every bout on his way to becoming European Champion — a landmark achievement for both himself and his club.

Teammate Dylan Wheatley also enjoyed podium success, securing a silver medal following a strong campaign. Meanwhile, Dylan Duffy and several other representatives from the gym recorded impressive performances, further underlining the club’s growing reputation.

Speaking after the championships, their coach Richie Ivory said:

“We’re building one of the best youth MMA teams in Europe… Any club can have one standout student — what really shows quality is continually replicating results at the highest level.”

The results mark a significant moment for the gym and for Irish youth MMA, with the gold medal heading back to Ireland after a memorable tournament.
